An Evening With Bob Mould at the Grammy Museum

MODERATED BY FRED ARMISEN

The GRAMMY Museum is thrilled to welcome Bob Mould to the Museum’s intimate 200-seat Clive Davis Theater for a conversation with comedian/writer/musician and music fan Fred Armisen. In addition to discussing Bob Mould’s most recent work, his 15th solo album, the critically acclaimed Here We Go Crazy, the conversation will cover Bob’s extensive 45+ year career making iconic music in the punk/indie space as founder of Hüsker Dü, Sugar and his prolific solo output. Bob will also perform songs at the event, in a truly one-of-a-kind showcase for fans.

Bob Mould was born and raised in upstate NY, before moving to Minnesota to attend Macalester College in 1978. While there, he formed the seminal hardcore punk band Hüsker Dü. When that band broke up in the late 1980’s he embarked on a solo career releasing two stellar albums before forming the power trio Sugar which achieved both critical and commercial success. When that band dissolved in 1995, he returned to his solo work. Mould’s influence on his peers as well subsequent generations of alternative and indie rock musicians is undeniable, with bands like R.E.M., Nirvana, My Bloody Valentine and Pixies all citing his music as inspirations.

Beyond his musical contributions, Mould has also been an advocate for LGBTQ+ rights, co-organizing the WEDRock benefit concert for Freedom to Marry in 2004. He also openly discusses his sexuality and music career in his autobiography from 2011, See a Little Light: The Trail of Rage and Melody. In May 2025, Mould’s career came full circle when he delivered the keynote address and received an honorary degree in “Doctor Of Humane Letters” at Macalester College’s commencement ceremony.
